The Barclays returns to Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, Aug. 24-29, after a one-year stay at Liberty National Golf Club in 2009. The first event in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, The Barclays will again feature the top 125 players on the FedExCup points list following the PGA TOUR’s 37-event regular season.
The Barclays has hosted, for more than four decades, the PGA Tour's best, with names like Jack Nicklaus, Johnny Miller, Ernie Els and Vijay Singh laying claim to the title of tournament champion in years past. There is plenty of stiff competition at the Barclays Golf Tournament, in one of the year's most intense golf tournaments.
This tournament dates back to the early to mid 1960's when it first hosted the Thunderbird Classic and then later the Westchester Classic on the PGA Tour's schedule of events. It once boasted the biggest purse in tournament golf offering the biggest first prize - a whopping $50,000 going to winner Julius Boros in 1968.
During the same 1967-2007 time span, The Barclays had always been played at the same course, the
Westchester Country Club in Harrison, New York. In 2008 the tournament switched to Ridgewood Country
Club in Paramus, New Jersey, and in 2009 relocated again to Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey. With a view of the New York City harbor and skyline, not to mention the Statue of Liberty, this was one breathtaking PGA Tour venue.

2009 Barclays Golf Tournament Winner
Heath Slocum might have been the one player no one expected to win The Barclays. He was locked in a
tense battle over the final hour Sunday, August 30th, 2009 at Liberty National with some of the
biggest names in golf such as Tiger Woods, Steve Stricker, Padraig Harrington and Ernie Els.
Slocum holed a 20-foot par putt on the final hole to remain at 9-under-par, giving him a
