2013 season begins with the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, called SBS Championship in 2010, on the
Plantation Course at Kapalua Resort in Hawaii on January
5th through the 9th. Last year Mercedes-Benz was the
sponsor but this year it will be SBS which is the Seoul

It is a winner’s only
event where as many as 34 golfers will be on the golf
betting odds board. About 34 PGA professionals will be
competing for the first title of the 2013 season. The
elite field will be competing for their share of $5.6
million. Anyone about to bet on golf will notice that
Tiger Woods will not be among those in the tournament.

2011 Hyundai Tournament of Champions Winner
Jonathan Byrd had a silver trophy at his side and a lei draped around his neck, a winner Sunday in the Tournament of Champions, even if the playoff didn't end the way anyone imagined. He made it two straight wins by closing with a 6-under 67, and winning despite the length advantage for Garrigus in the playoff.
2010 SBS Championship Winner
In 2010, Geoff Ogilvy of
Australia won the SBS Championship at the Plantation
course on in Kapalua
Geoff Ogilvy won the first event of the season, the SBS
Championship at the Plantation course on in Kapalua,
between last years winner's on tour with an impressive
six shot victory.
A year after winning by six shots, Ogilvy rallied from a
two-shot deficit with 10 holes to play with smart
decisions and flawless golf for a 6-under 67 and a
one-shot victory over Rory Sabbatini on Sunday.
Ogilvy posted his eighth consecutive round in the 60s on
the Plantation Course. He joined fellow Australian
Stuart Appleby as the only repeat winners since this
tournament moved to Kapalua in 1999, and he became only
the seventh player in the 58 years of this winners-only
tournament to win in consecutive years. |
